DePuy Live Brief....

This next project is to create a info graph for a company, basically conveying a lot of data. I need to think about the data we need, color coding in reference to machines, how much gets used. To begin we are asked to create a questionnaire so i am prepared when meeting the company, this will be to get to know your user, and collect all the data i need for my info graph. ( a visual of the problem with bar charts around it.)Before creating the questions i need to :

  • Identifying the user
  • Find out who does what
  • What products do what ( understanding how the machines link together.) etc.
  • What data needs to be harnessed?
  • Where does it reside?
  • Who has responsibility of it?
  • Who needs to use it?
  • What needs to happen to it to turn it into a meaningful actions for the business?

Questions such as :

  •  How many watts are used within that chain?
  • How much electricity goes into each machine?
  • Who carries out the trainning, elaborate for example: how much does it cost to train? is there a training plan? etc
The main key is to try and understand  the personality of the company, whats working and whats not working. Creating this info graph will have to be very sophisticated  as its for business type places. It must communicate quickly and effectively.

Let the nutrition see the info...

A Prawn Special

Okay so after class critique, I got some really good feedback from
lecture and classmates.  For my final draft in this real life infograph
I'm going to select different colors for the pie chart, as the prawns may appear
"radioactive" phaahah, the green color am chatting bout.
I'm going to change the font and maybe arrange the type differently, it just doesn't seem to go.
And maybe decrease the size and change the background. Overall its a good idea, it just needs some tweaking.:) here we are:
Already this version looks far more better and professional,
The colors are consistent with each other, and the information is flowing.
I prefer the white back ground, and how i aligned my type. And the use
of co lour coding squares.Still more development I think, but it will do for now :)

My First Idea for James Bond Infograph

A few sketches of my idea:

I wanted to use the original logo, with the gun barrel and bond in the middle, took about 15mins to design the gun barrel in Photoshop. Was very impressed with it. The idea that am looking to achieve is How many people all the bonds Killed..

Secondly i then sketched up a silhouette of James Bond, scanned it into Photoshop and filled it in with colour:

I then scaled the silhouette figure down to size:

Then using a splatter brush tool in Photoshop, I created the effect of splatters of blood inserting the txt inside. Taking the  opacity down to 77% .

A simple BarChat done up in Excel:

After Class critique, I got some really good feed-bk from my lecture
and class mates. Taking my mock up of Death By Bonds back into photoshop, removing the
gun barrel, and leaving just a white simple back ground.
and changing the type to a sans serif font :

The James Bond Challenge...

Heres a few James Bond Infographs that are quite cool:
