Using illustrator to create my icons

Color palette (journey of a product )

Now that I've got my idea sorted out, i'm looking into different types of colors. My first idea is to stick within the colors of the company like the business logo, red grey and white. .I used illustrator to create this idea:

<< I basically used the rounded rectangle tool in illustrator, used the gradient  to create this grey effect, I then used the ellipse tool to create the shine effect at the top. This first idea i used Myraid Pro font, not to sure about it.
In this 2nd idea I decided to use Arial for the logo font,
but for the actually name if the app, I started thinking about how my idea is all about lines connecting to one another so i found this font on dafont.com called "please hold the line "

This next idea, i used a font called "Thin lines and curves"
also from dafont.com. I really like this one it seems to fit.

Critque with employer

After having a critique with the employer about our ideas, I was given some great feed back which was great. So I've decided to go for this Illustrated style idea " Journey of a product" which the employer also like, i'm going to turn my idea into an app that allows the audience to follow "the journey of a product":

I give an example of "The Journey of a tweet" for my inspiration:

I also started thinking this idea  could be used for, and  little business  cards that you get handed from company, this could maybe come within the Induction pack or the training pack.
For example:

 or a Induction kit
or even an induction leaflet, whatever form I will be able to have my company overview illustration
printed at the back, for example were the map is on this leaflet I will have it there:

or even a business for Depuy, with my idea at the back of it. Its obviously something your going to keep on you if you work for the business, as it will have all contact details on it as well as a full over view of " the journey of the product"
Here's example's of information business cards:

DePuy Live Brief....

This next project is to create a info graph for a company, basically conveying a lot of data. I need to think about the data we need, color coding in reference to machines, how much gets used. To begin we are asked to create a questionnaire so i am prepared when meeting the company, this will be to get to know your user, and collect all the data i need for my info graph. ( a visual of the problem with bar charts around it.)Before creating the questions i need to :

  • Identifying the user
  • Find out who does what
  • What products do what ( understanding how the machines link together.) etc.
  • What data needs to be harnessed?
  • Where does it reside?
  • Who has responsibility of it?
  • Who needs to use it?
  • What needs to happen to it to turn it into a meaningful actions for the business?

Questions such as :

  •  How many watts are used within that chain?
  • How much electricity goes into each machine?
  • Who carries out the trainning, elaborate for example: how much does it cost to train? is there a training plan? etc
The main key is to try and understand  the personality of the company, whats working and whats not working. Creating this info graph will have to be very sophisticated  as its for business type places. It must communicate quickly and effectively.
